Fascism

One may ask why Fascism is on a site relating to St George or the spirit of St George. Many citizens of democratic Countries are concerned about the level of Government involvement in their lives. Perhaps one should understand the Fascist Doctrine to understand why Governments are acting as they do.

Fascism with a capital 'F' is the original doctrine by Benito Mussolini, co-written by Giovanni Gentile, in an official Fascist government publication of 1935, "Fascism Doctrine and Institutions", Ardita Publishers, Rome, which employed Mussolini at the time.

It requires studious reading but the general principle is that the State should run with and akin to Corporations and take control of the people on behalf of the people, thus acting like a parent to an adolescent.

There are many fascist doctrines that have sprung up, but notice the small 'f', a capital 'F' is used in the case of Mussolini and Gentile's definition. The reason I use both Mussolini and Gentile as co authors is that there is debate as to how much Mussolini contributed. As you can see below Fascism was already defined in 1932 for the Enciclopedia Italiana which was edited by Giovanni Gentile, with the article itself written by Gentile. The use of the word Fascism in modern Italian political history stretches back to the 1890s in the form of fasci, which were radical leftist political factions that proliferated in the decades before World War I.

In the article in the 1932 Enciclopedia Italiana, written by Giovanni Gentile and attributed to Benito Mussolini, Fascism is described as a system in which "The State not only is authority which governs and molds individual wills with laws and values of spiritual life, but it is also power which makes its will prevail abroad. ...For the Fascist, everything is within the State and ... neither individuals or groups are outside the State. ...For Fascism, the State is an absolute, before which individuals or groups are only relative."

As one can see below, even if Gentile is the 'Official Philosopher of Fascism', it was Mussolini who put it into practice and gave it his soul. Therefore it is right to consider both to be equal regarding it's birth.

Quotes from Mussolini:

..."The maxim that society exists only for the well-being and freedom of the individuals composing it does not seem to be in conformity with nature's plans." "If classical liberalism spells individualism," Mussolini continued, "Fascism spells government."

"While certain types of socialism may superficially appear to be similar to fascism, it should be noted that the two ideologies clash violently on many issues. The role of the state, for example: Socialism considers the state to be merely a "tool of the people," sometimes calling it a "necessary evil," which exists to serve the interests of the people and to protect the common good (in addition, certain forms of libertarian socialism reject the state altogether). Meanwhile, Fascism holds the state to be an end in of itself, which the people should obey and serve (rather than the other way around)."

"In our state the individual is not deprived of freedom. In fact, he has greater liberty than an isolated man, because the state protects him and he is part of the State. Isolated man is without defence."

"We are, in other words, a state which controls all forces acting in nature. We control political forces, we control moral forces we control economic forces, therefore we are a full-blown Corporative state. We stand for a new principle in the world, we stand for sheer, categorical, definitive antithesis to the world of democracy, plutocracy, free-masonry, to the world which still abides by the fundamental principles laid down in 1789."

Although Fascism praises of the ideals of spiritualism, religion, individualism, hard work and reward it appears to be acceptable only for the benefit of the State which will act in the interests of all within it. Rather like a Corporation existing today. There is the twist. Fascism was built on a Corporate ideal. Today all we have is Government consolidating Corporation. That is why this is a topic for St George.
